      \u00bfC\u00d3MO HABLAR DE MEDIOAMBIENTE EN LOS MUSEOS?<\/h3>\n

      La Biosph\u00e8re de Montreal, parte del complejo conocido como Espace pour la vie, el mayor conjunto muse\u00edstico dedicado a las ciencias naturales en Canad\u00e1, redefini\u00f3 su misi\u00f3n en agosto de 2021. Con la exposici\u00f3n interactiva \u201cR\u00eavez la Biosph\u00e8re !\u201d (\u00a1Sue\u00f1a la Biosph\u00e8re!), ubicada en una nueva sala enfocada en iniciativas ciudadanas, se busc\u00f3 explorar los intereses del p\u00fablico sobre temas medioambientales. Entre junio de 2022 y abril de 2023, cerca de 10,000 personas participaron en esta consulta, brindando valiosas perspectivas sobre c\u00f3mo los museos pueden abordar la transici\u00f3n socioecol\u00f3gica de manera efectiva.<\/p>\n

      Los museos, como espacios de aprendizaje y reflexi\u00f3n, tienen una responsabilidad \u00fanica en la sensibilizaci\u00f3n sobre temas medioambientales<\/strong>. Sin embargo, comunicar estos temas de manera efectiva y accesible para todos los p\u00fablicos sigue siendo un desaf\u00edo. La consulta p\u00fablica busca recopilar ideas, experiencias y propuestas que permitan a los museos convertirse en plataformas de di\u00e1logo sobre sostenibilidad, biodiversidad y cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n

      La consulta, celebrada en la Biosphere, un museo reconocido por su enfoque en la educaci\u00f3n ambiental, reuni\u00f3 a expertos, muse\u00f3logos, cient\u00edficos y representantes de comunidades locales. Durante el evento, se discutieron estrategias para integrar el medioambiente en las narrativas muse\u00edsticas, utilizando exposiciones, talleres interactivos y actividades educativas que conecten a los visitantes con los problemas ambientales actuales.<\/p>\n

      El p\u00fablico pod\u00eda responder a estas tres preguntas en la sala de exposiciones utilizando unas instalaciones anal\u00f3gicas y l\u00fadicas (en las que pod\u00edan dibujar, escribir o manipular objetos), o a trav\u00e9s de un breve cuestionario disponible en una pantalla t\u00e1ctil. M\u00e1s de 9\u00a0000 personas respondieron a la consulta, que fue especialmente bien recibida entre los j\u00f3venes: m\u00e1s de la mitad de las respuestas correspondieron a menores de 16 a\u00f1os y casi una cuarta parte a personas de entre 16 y 34 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

      Entre las propuestas destacadas, se plante\u00f3 la necesidad de:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • Incorporar historias locales relacionadas con el medioambiente para crear un impacto m\u00e1s cercano y personal.<\/li>\n
      • Utilizar tecnolog\u00edas interactivas para explicar fen\u00f3menos complejos como el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/li>\n
      • Colaborar con comunidades ind\u00edgenas y otros grupos marginados para incluir perspectivas diversas sobre la relaci\u00f3n con la naturaleza.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        El ICOM subraya que los museos tienen el potencial de ser mucho m\u00e1s que espacios de exhibici\u00f3n; pueden actuar como catalizadores de cambio social y ambiental. Al involucrar a las comunidades en discusiones sobre el medioambiente, los museos pueden inspirar acciones concretas para proteger el planeta.<\/p>\n

        La consulta p\u00fablica tambi\u00e9n destac\u00f3 la necesidad de que los museos adopten pr\u00e1cticas sostenibles en sus propias operaciones, como el uso de energ\u00eda renovable, la reducci\u00f3n de residuos y la creaci\u00f3n de exposiciones con materiales reciclados.<\/p>\n

        \u00bfQu\u00e9 espera el p\u00fablico y qu\u00e9 temas ya no quiere escuchar?<\/h3>\n
          \n
        1. El cambio clim\u00e1tico, un tema desgastado<\/strong>
          \nAunque el cambio clim\u00e1tico sigue siendo uno de los temas de mayor inter\u00e9s, los encuestados manifestaron estar cansados de escucharlo constantemente. Esto podr\u00eda deberse a que ciertas palabras o enfoques se han repetido tanto que han perdido impacto. Asimismo, el transporte (como el uso de bicicletas, coches el\u00e9ctricos o compartidos) es el segundo tema que m\u00e1s incomoda, especialmente entre las personas mayores de 50 a\u00f1os.<\/li>\n
        2. Fatiga por el discurso alarmista<\/strong>
          \nEl p\u00fablico m\u00e1s informado expres\u00f3 su rechazo hacia los mensajes alarmistas que predominan en los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n, ya que suelen centrarse solo en los problemas. Esto refuerza la idea de que es necesario tratar estos temas desde perspectivas renovadas, priorizando soluciones en lugar de catastrofismo.<\/li>\n
        3. Evitar la culpabilizaci\u00f3n individual<\/strong>
          \nLas acciones individuales para proteger el medioambiente, como reducir el uso de pajitas de pl\u00e1stico o separar residuos, ocupan el tercer lugar entre los temas que generan mayor cansancio. Para los encuestados m\u00e1s informados y mayores, estas acciones parecen insignificantes frente a las responsabilidades de los gobiernos e industrias, que tienen un impacto mucho mayor a nivel global. Es m\u00e1s efectivo destacar iniciativas colectivas que permitan a las personas contribuir juntas a un cambio significativo.<\/li>\n
        4. Un nuevo enfoque para hablar del medioambiente<\/strong>
          \nEstos resultados han llevado a la Biosph\u00e8re a replantear c\u00f3mo abordar los temas medioambientales. Ahora buscan evitar la culpabilizaci\u00f3n y transmitir esperanza, ayudando al p\u00fablico a imaginar futuros positivos y fomentar un movimiento colectivo hacia un mundo m\u00e1s justo y sostenible. El museo ha comenzado a incluir contenidos art\u00edsticos y cient\u00edficos que, con un enfoque constructivo, abordan temas complejos como los desplazados clim\u00e1ticos, la extinci\u00f3n de especies o las emociones vinculadas al cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          HOW TO TALK ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT IN MUSEUMS?<\/h3>\n
          \n\t

          The Biosph\u00e8re de Montr\u00e9al, part of the Espace pour la vie complex, the largest museum complex dedicated to the natural sciences in Canada, redefined its mission in August 2021. With the interactive exhibition \u201cR\u00eavez la Biosph\u00e8re!\u201d (Dream the Biosphere!), located in a new room focused on citizen initiatives, it sought to explore the public\u2019s interests in environmental issues. Between June 2022 and April 2023, nearly 10,000 people participated in this consultation, providing valuable insights into how museums can effectively address the socio-ecological transition.<\/p>\n

          Museums, as spaces for learning and reflection, have a unique responsibility to raise awareness of environmental issues<\/strong>. However, communicating these issues in a way that is effective and accessible to all audiences remains a challenge. The public consultation seeks to gather ideas, experiences and proposals that will enable museums to become platforms for dialogue on sustainability, biodiversity and climate change.<\/p>\n

          The consultation, held at the Biosphere, a museum renowned for its focus on environmental education, brought together experts, museologists, scientists and representatives of local communities. During the event, they discussed strategies for integrating the environment into museum narratives, using exhibits, interactive workshops and educational activities that connect visitors to current environmental issues.<\/p>\n

          The public could answer these three questions in the exhibition hall using playful analog installations (where they could draw, write or manipulate objects), or through a short questionnaire available on a touch screen. More than 9,000 people responded to the consultation, which was particularly well received among young people: more than half of the responses were from under-16s and almost a quarter from 16-34 year olds.<\/p>\n

          Among the proposals highlighted was the need to:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • Incorporate local stories related to the environment to create a closer and more personal impact.<\/li>\n
          • Use interactive technologies to explain complex phenomena such as climate change.<\/li>\n
          • Collaborate with indigenous communities and other marginalized groups to include diverse perspectives on the relationship with nature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            ICOM stresses that museums have the potential to be much more than exhibition spaces; they can act as catalysts for social and environmental change. By engaging communities in discussions about the environment, museums can inspire concrete actions to protect the planet.<\/p>\n

            The public consultation also highlighted the need for museums to adopt sustainable practices in their own operations, such as using renewable energy, reducing waste, and creating exhibits with recycled materials.<\/p>\n

            What does the public expect and what topics do they no longer want to hear about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            1. Climate change, a worn-out topic.\u00a0<\/strong>Although climate change remains one of the topics of greatest interest, respondents said they were tired of hearing about it all the time. This could be because certain words or approaches have become so repetitive that they have lost impact. Likewise, transportation (such as the use of bicycles, electric or shared cars) is the second most discomforting topic, especially among people over 50.<\/li>\n
            2. Fatigue with alarmist discourse<\/strong>. The most informed public expressed their rejection of the alarmist messages that predominate in the media, as they tend to focus only on the problems. This reinforces the idea that it is necessary to address these issues from renewed perspectives, prioritizing solutions instead of catastrophism.<\/li>\n
            3. Avoiding individual blame<\/strong>. Individual actions to protect the environment, such as reducing the use of plastic straws or separating waste, are the third most fatiguing issues. For more informed and older respondents, these actions seem insignificant compared to the responsibilities of governments and industries, which have a much greater impact at the global level. It is more effective to highlight collective initiatives that enable people to contribute together to meaningful change.<\/li>\n
            4. A new approach to talking about the environment<\/strong>. These results have led Biosph\u00e8re to rethink how they approach environmental issues. They now seek to avoid blaming and convey hope, helping the public to imagine positive futures and encourage a collective movement toward a more just and sustainable world. The museum has begun to include artistic and scientific content that, with a constructive approach, addresses complex issues such as climate displacement, species extinction or the emotions linked to climate change.In short, as trusted sources of information, museums play a crucial role in inspiring, listening and promoting social dialogue on environmental challenges and solutions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
