El d\u00eda de hoy nos adelantamos una semana para hablar del aniversario de un acontecimiento \u00fanico: se cumplen 125 a\u00f1os<\/strong> del descubrimiento de la Dama de Elche<\/strong>. Actualmente, la pieza se encuentra en el Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong> (Madrid). Sin embargo, su tocado \u00edbero encierra numerosos destinos a lo largo de su historia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El 4 de agosto de 1897<\/strong>, un agricultor de Elche (Alicante, Espa\u00f1a) llamado Manuel Campello Esclapez encontr\u00f3 el busto de manera casual en el Yacimiento Arqueol\u00f3gico de la Alcudia<\/strong>, antigua ciudad \u00edbera de Ilici, que se convertir\u00eda posteriormente en la colonia romana Lulia Ilici Augusta. Este s\u00edmbolo universal data de entre los siglos V y IV a.C<\/strong>. Est\u00e1 compuesta de piedra caliza<\/strong> e inicialmente se encontraba policromada y con los ojos rellenos de pasta v\u00edtrea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Museo del Louvre (Par\u00eds) cerr\u00f3 su compra y all\u00ed fue bautizada como la Dama de Elche<\/em>. Sin embargo, el estallido de la II Guerra Mundial en 1939 provoc\u00f3 su traslado a un castillo pr\u00f3ximo a Toulouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 1941, atraves\u00f3 los Pirineos para instalarse en el Museo del Prado (Madrid) y desde el acuerdo de 1972, se ha mantenido en el Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional, destino actual. Por otro lado, desde su partida, el busto ha visitado Elche en dos ocasiones: en 1965 (VII Centenario del Misteri<\/em>) y en 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Son numerosos los casos de descubrimientos casuales de este tipo de patrimonio. Por ello, debemos ser conscientes de su cuidado y garantizar su transmisi\u00f3n a futuras generaciones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

125th ANNIVERSARY OF THE DISCOVERY OF THE DAMA ELCHE<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today we are a week early to talk about the anniversary of a unique event: the 125th anniversary of the discovery of the Dama de Elche<\/strong><\/em>. Currently, the piece is in the Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional<\/em><\/strong> of Spain (Madrid). However, her Iberian headdress has had many destinies throughout its history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On August 4th, 1897<\/strong>, a farmer from Elche (Alicante<\/em>, Spain) named Manuel Campello Esclapez found the bust by chance at the Alcudia Archaeological Site<\/strong>, the ancient Iberian city of Ilici, which would later become the Roman colony Lulia Ilici Augusta. This universal symbol dates from between the 5th and 4th centuries BC<\/strong>. It is composed of limestone<\/strong> and was initially polychrome and with the eyes filled with vitreous paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Louvre Museum (Paris) closed its purchase and there it was baptized as the Dama de Elche<\/em>. However, the outbreak of World War II in 1939 caused its transfer to a castle near Toulouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1941, it crossed the Pyrenees to be installed in the Prado Museum (Madrid) and since the agreement of 1972, it has remained in the Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional<\/em> (Spain), its current destination. On the other hand, since its departure, the bust has visited Elche twice: in 1965 (VII Centenary of the Misteri<\/em>) and in 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are numerous cases of chance discoveries of this type of heritage. Therefore, we must be aware of its care and ensure its transmission to future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
