\u00a9AFP<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nLa Isla de Pascua (Chile)<\/strong> es el lugar que acoge los antiguos moais fabricados por los rapa nui.<\/em> Estas majestuosas estatuas se encuentran en la cantera del cr\u00e1ter volc\u00e1nico Rano Raraku.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nEl pasado martes, 4 de octubre<\/strong>, la Corporaci\u00f3n Nacional Forestal (Conaf) recibi\u00f3 una alerta de incendio, aparentemente provocado por la quema de pastizales, <\/strong>en la zona. La imposibilidad de acceder a la zona con veh\u00edculo provoc\u00f3 que los bomberos tuvieran que entrar en el espacio a apagar las llamas a pie. La complejidad de esta tarea, unida a los fuertes vientos, provoc\u00f3 que las llamas destruyeran 104 hect\u00e1reas de pastizales, da\u00f1ando 80 mo\u00e1is. De las 416 estatuas que se encuentran en la zona, un 20% ha sufrido deterioros provocados por el fuego -ya controlado-.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nEl incendio se inici\u00f3 en una zona patrimonial sensible de la isla situada en el Oc\u00e9ano Pac\u00edfico que forma parte de la regi\u00f3n chilena de Valpara\u00edso.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
No es el primer incendio al que se enfrentan las estatuas. Otras situaciones parecidas acontecidas anteriormente hicieron que cient\u00edficos chilenos y japoneses del Consejo de Monumentos Nacionales aplicaran soluciones qu\u00edmicas en la piedra para dotarla de una capa de protecci\u00f3n. Sin embargo, antes de tomar cualquier decisi\u00f3n, se deben evaluar los da\u00f1os provocados en conjunto con la UNESCO<\/strong>, que declar\u00f3 la isla Patrimonio de la Humanidad<\/strong> en 1986.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n__<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
FIRE ON EASTER ISLAND<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
Easter Island (Chile)<\/strong> is the place that hosts the ancient rapa nui<\/strong><\/em> made by the moais<\/strong><\/em>. These majestic statues are located in the quarry of the volcanic crater Rano Raraku.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nLast Tuesday, October 4th<\/strong>, the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) received a fire<\/strong> alert in the area. The impossibility of accessing the area by vehicle meant that firefighters had to enter the area to extinguish the flames on foot. The complexity of this task, coupled with strong winds, caused the flames to destroy 104 hectares of grassland, damaging 80 moai. Of the 416 statues in the area, 20% were damaged by the fire, which is now under control.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe fire started in a sensitive heritage area of the island located in the Pacific Ocean, which is part of the Chilean region of Valparaiso.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
This is not the first fire the statues have faced. Similar situations in the past led Chilean and Japanese scientists from the National Monuments Council to apply chemical solutions to the stone to provide it with a layer of protection.
