El m\u00e9todo ABC<\/strong> es un manual que contempla la aplicaci\u00f3n de la gesti\u00f3n de los riesgos a la preservaci\u00f3n de los bienes culturales<\/strong>. Se trata de una herramienta que ofrece un m\u00e9todo paso a paso para ayudar al profesional del patrimonio. El objetivo, por tanto, es garantizar una conservaci\u00f3n \u00f3ptima del valor de los bienes culturales con los recursos disponibles.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

El manual elaborado por el Canadian Conservation Institute<\/strong> en colaboraci\u00f3n con el ICCROM<\/strong> en 2016, <\/strong>cuenta con una estructura que comienza con una visi\u00f3n<\/strong> que, en resumidas cuentas, pretende contestar las preguntas \u201cqui\u00e9n, qu\u00e9, por qu\u00e9 y c\u00f3mo\u201d respecto al m\u00e9todo. Seguida a esta visi\u00f3n, se plantean los cinco pasos <\/strong>que corresponden al ciclo de gesti\u00f3n:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

  1. Establecer el contexto.<\/li>\r\n
  2. Identificar riesgos.<\/li>\r\n
  3. Analizar los riesgos.<\/li>\r\n
  4. Evaluar los riesgos.<\/li>\r\n
  5. Manejo de riesgos.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Para cada paso, el manual propone tareas y proporciona una secci\u00f3n de explicaci\u00f3n. A su vez, en el apartado de riesgos, el documento expone los 10 agentes de deterioro<\/strong> que afectan a la conservaci\u00f3n del patrimonio cultural material. Estos agentes incluyen: fuerzas f\u00edsicas; robo y vandalismo; incendio; agua; plagas; luz IR y UV, temperatura inadecuada, disociaci\u00f3n; contaminaci\u00f3n; humedad inadecuada.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Por otro lado, tambi\u00e9n ofrece una clasificaci\u00f3n de los riesgos que se dividen en eventos \u201craros\u201d (ocurren con menos frecuencia), eventos actuales (m\u00e1s comunes) y procesos acumulativos (ocurren de forma continua o intermitente). Esta divisi\u00f3n permite tomar decisiones adecuadas para cada riesgo en cuanto a la temporalidad de lo ocurrido.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Este manual es un apoyo de reflexi\u00f3n<\/strong> para los responsables de la conservaci\u00f3n que permite establecer un orden o jerarqu\u00eda a la hora de elaborar un estudio completo de un bien cultural y su estado de conservaci\u00f3n. Los cinco pasos de control (evitar, prevenir, detectar, reaccionar y recoger\/tratar) deber\u00edan formar parte de los \u201cmandamientos\u201d de la conservaci\u00f3n preventiva y, como consecuencia, de la Restauraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    ABC METHOD<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The ABC method<\/strong> is a manual for the application of risk management to the preservation of cultural property.<\/strong> It is a tool that provides a step-by-step method to assist the heritage professional. The objective, therefore, is to ensure optimal conservation of the value of cultural property with the resources available.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The manual developed by the Canadian Conservation Institute<\/strong> in collaboration with ICCROM<\/strong> in 2016<\/strong>, has a structure that begins with a vision that, in a nutshell, aims to answer the questions \"who, what, why and how\" regarding the method. Followed by this vision, the five steps<\/strong> that correspond to the management cycle are laid out:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    1. Establish the context.<\/li>\r\n
    2. Identify risks.<\/li>\r\n
    3. Analyze risks.<\/li>\r\n
    4. Evaluate risks.<\/li>\r\n
    5. Risk management.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      For each step, the manual proposes tasks and provides an explanation section. In turn, in the section on risks, the document sets out the 10 agents of deterioration<\/strong> that affect the conservation of tangible cultural heritage. These agents include: physical forces; theft and vandalism; fire; water; pests; IR and UV light; inadequate temperature; dissociation; contamination; inadequate humidity.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      On the other hand, it also provides a classification of risks that are divided into \"rare\" events (occurring less frequently), current events (more common) and cumulative processes (occurring continuously or intermittently). This division allows appropriate decisions to be made for each risk in terms of the timing of the occurrence.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      This manual is a food for thought<\/strong> for those responsible for conservation that allows an order or hierarchy to be established when preparing a complete study of a cultural property and its state of conservation. The five control steps (avoid, prevent, detect, react and collect\/treat) should be part of the \"commandments\" of preventive conservation and, as a consequence, of restoration.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
