En Espa\u00f1a, esta actividad es conocida en el Alto Tajo (<em>gancheros<\/em>), en el J\u00facar (<em>maeros<\/em>), en Catalu\u00f1a (<em>raiers<\/em>), en Arag\u00f3n y Navarra (<em>almadieros<\/em>) o en el Cabriel (<em>madereros<\/em>, como en Cofrentes). La decisi\u00f3n de esta declaraci\u00f3n fue tomada durante el XVII Comit\u00e9 Intergubernamental para la Salvaguardia del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad de la UNESCO, celebrado en Rabat (Marruecos).<\/p>\n<p>Esta t\u00e9cnica de transporte de madera por r\u00edo tiene su origen en la Edad Media, cuando se utilizaban balsas para transportar este material, mercanc\u00edas y personas, aprovechando las distintas corrientes de agua. Este reconocimiento favorece a Antella y Cofrentes en el mapa mundial, aunque es una pr\u00e1ctica que tambi\u00e9n se lleva a cabo en Alemania, Austria, Chequia, Letonia y Polonia. Seg\u00fan los promovedores de la candidatura, las balsas de manera, llamadas almad\u00edas, pueden medir hasta 600 metros de largo, 50 metros de ancho y 2 metros de alto.<\/p>\n<p>Esta pr\u00e1ctica re\u00fane conocimientos tradicionales ligados a los saberes en cuanto a la fabricaci\u00f3n y navegaci\u00f3n de balsas por v\u00edas fluviales.
