RESE\u00d1A CHARLA “60 MINUTOS CON… FEDERICO MAYOR ZARAGOZA”<\/h3>\t\t\t

Ayer, 26 de enero de 2023<\/strong>, la C\u00e1tedra UNESCO Forum Universidad y Patrimonio Cultural de la Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia<\/strong> tuvo el inmenso placer de inaugurar el ciclo de charlas \u201c60 minutos con\u2026\u201d en compa\u00f1\u00eda de D. Federico Mayor Zaragoza.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Federico Mayor Zaragoza fue Director General de la UNESCO entre 1987 y 1999 y principal impulsor de la creaci\u00f3n del programa UNITWIN\/ C\u00e1tedras UNESCO. Adem\u00e1s, ha ocupado otros cargos de especial relevancia nacionales e internacionales y desde el a\u00f1o 2000 ostenta la presidencia de la Fundaci\u00f3n Cultura de Paz.<\/p>\n

El encuentro fue dirigido por D\u00aa.\u00a0 Mar\u00eda Victoria Vivancos, directora de la C\u00e1tedra UNESCO quien realiz\u00f3 y coordin\u00f3 esta charla a trav\u00e9s de preguntas y reflexiones. El Profesor nos habl\u00f3 entre otros temas sobre cu\u00e1les fueron los or\u00edgenes del programa de C\u00e1tedras UNESCO-UNITWIN haciendo hincapi\u00e9 sobre la importancia y el papel que la Educaci\u00f3n, la Cultura y el Patrimonio Cultural tienen o pueden tener, en el mundo actual para contribuir en la construcci\u00f3n y consolidaci\u00f3n de una cultura de paz.<\/p>\n

Don Federico Mayor recalc\u00f3 la importancia y el papel decisorio de las C\u00e1tedras UNESCO por la labor de acercar la educaci\u00f3n y la cultura a la sociedad a trav\u00e9s de la Universidad, siempre teniendo como objetivo el conseguir una sociedad multilateral. A su vez, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que, tal y como indica la UNESCO, los pilares b\u00e1sicos de la educaci\u00f3n deben basarse en \u201caprender a ser\u201d; y a\u00f1adi\u00f3 que debemos aprender a conocer, a hacer, a construir y a emprender. En su discurso mencion\u00f3 en todo momento, el atrevimiento a poner en marcha todo lo anterior, animando a todas las personas a ser \u201cactores\u201d de esta sociedad, de la que apunt\u00f3 \u201cno es una \u00e9poca de cambios; sino un cambio de \u00e9poca\u201d.<\/p>\n

Resumir el evento de ayer en una noticia nos resulta dif\u00edcil. Sin embargo, cerramos esta entrada citando una de las frases que nos ofreci\u00f3 ayer D. Federico Mayor: \u201cA pesar de todo, no olvidemos que el mejor patrimonio de la humanidad es el ser humano\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

REVIEW TALK “60 MINUTES WITH… FEDERICO MAYOR ZARAGOZA”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yesterday, January 26, 2023<\/strong>, the UNESCO Chair Forum University and Cultural Heritage of the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia<\/strong> had the immense pleasure of inaugurating the series of talks “60 minutes with…” in the company of Mr. Federico Mayor Zaragoza.<\/strong><\/p>\n

D. Federico Mayor Zaragoza was Director General of UNESCO between 1987 and 1999 and main promoter of the creation of the UNITWIN\/UNESCO Chairs program. He has also held other positions of special national and international relevance and since 2000 he has held the presidency of the Culture of Peace Foundation.<\/p>\n

The meeting was led by Ms. Mar\u00eda Victoria Vivancos, director of the UNESCO Chair, who conducted and coordinated this talk through questions and reflections. Among other topics, the Professor spoke about the origins of the UNESCO-UNITWIN Chairs program, emphasizing the importance and role that Education, Culture and Cultural Heritage have or can have in today’s world to contribute to the construction and consolidation of a culture of peace.<\/p>\n

Mr. Federico Mayor stressed the importance and decisive role of the UNESCO Chairs in bringing education and culture closer to society through the University, always with the objective of achieving a multilateral society. In turn, he pointed out that, as indicated by UNESCO, the basic pillars of education should be based on “learning to be”; and added that we must learn to know, to do, to build and to undertake. In his speech he mentioned at all times, the daring to put all of the above into action, encouraging all people to be “actors” of this society, of which he pointed out “it is not a time of change; but a change of time”.<\/p>\n

It is difficult for us to summarize yesterday’s event in a single news item. However, we close this entry by quoting one of the phrases offered yesterday by Mr. Federico Mayor: “In spite of everything, let us not forget that the best heritage of humanity is the human being”.<\/strong><\/p>\n
