D\u00cdA INTERNACIONAL DE LA LENGUA MATERNA 2023<\/h3>\t\t\t

El martes 21 de febrero<\/strong> es el D\u00eda Internacional de la Lengua Materna<\/strong>. Esta celebraci\u00f3n se aprob\u00f3 en la Conferencia General de la UNESCO de 1999 a iniciativa de Bangladesh y extendi\u00e9ndose a nivel internacional desde el a\u00f1o 2000.<\/p>\n

La UNESCO, como entidad, respeta y defiende la importancia de la diversidad cultural y ling\u00fc\u00edstica para las sociedades sostenibles. Adem\u00e1s, se promueven las lenguas como herramientas para preservar las diferencias de culturas, entendiendo su identidad y fomentando la tolerancia y el respeto de todas y cada una de ellas.<\/p>\n

En las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas, la diversidad ling\u00fc\u00edstica se ha visto especialmente m\u00e1s afectada y amenazada. Seg\u00fan datos de la UNESCO, cada dos semanas, de media, desaparece una lengua, eliminando as\u00ed, su patrimonio cultural e intelectual. Adem\u00e1s, el 40% de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial no tiene acceso a una educaci\u00f3n en una lengua que hable o entienda.<\/p>\n

El D\u00eda Internacional como celebraci\u00f3n tiene como objetivo, entre otras cosas, reconocer estas formas de expresar el mundo en su multiplicidad, comprometi\u00e9ndose as\u00ed, con la preservaci\u00f3n de la diversidad de las lenguas como patrimonio com\u00fan y obrar por una educaci\u00f3n de calidad -en la lengua materna- para todos.<\/p>\n

Otro de los objetivos es fomentar la educaci\u00f3n que comienza en la lengua que el alumno domina mejor y, posteriormente incorporar gradualmente otras lenguas. Todo ello permite al alumno salvar la distancia entre el hogar y la escuela y descubrir el entorno escolar en una lengua familiar, logrando un mejor aprendizaje.<\/p>\n

El tema del D\u00eda Internacional de la Lengua Materna 2023 es \u201cEducaci\u00f3n Multiling\u00fce, la necesidad para transformar la educaci\u00f3n<\/strong>\u201d y debatrir\u00e1 el potencial del multiling\u00fcismo para transformar la educaci\u00f3n desde una perspectiva de aprendizaje permanente y en diferentes contextos. As\u00ed, el tema se encuentra en consonancia con las recomendaciones formuladas durante la Cumbre sobre la Transformaci\u00f3n de la Educaci\u00f3n, donde se hizo especial hincapi\u00e9 en la educaci\u00f3n y las lenguas de los pueblos ind\u00edgenas.<\/p>\n

INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tuesday, February 21<\/strong> is International Mother Language Day<\/strong>. This celebration was adopted at the UNESCO General Conference in 1999 at the initiative of Bangladesh and extended internationally since 2000.<\/p>\n

UNESCO, as an entity, respects and defends the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity for sustainable societies. In addition, languages are promoted as tools to preserve the differences of cultures, understanding their identity and promoting tolerance and respect for each and every one of them.<\/p>\n

In recent decades, linguistic diversity has been particularly affected and threatened. According to UNESCO, on average, a language disappears every two weeks, thus eliminating its cultural and intellectual heritage. Furthermore, 40% of the world’s population does not have access to education in a language they speak or understand.<\/p>\n

The International Day as a celebration aims, among other things, to recognize these ways of expressing the world in its multiplicity, thus committing to the preservation of the diversity of languages as a common heritage and to work for quality education – in the mother tongue – for all.<\/p>\n

Another objective is to promote education that begins in the language the student masters best and then gradually incorporates other languages. This allows the student to bridge the gap between home and school and discover the school environment in a familiar language, leading to better learning.<\/p>\n

The theme of International Mother Language Day 2023 is “Multilingual Education, the need to transform education”<\/strong> and will address the potential of multilingualism to transform education from a lifelong learning perspective and in different contexts. Thus, the theme is in line with the recommendations made during the Summit on Transforming Education, where special emphasis was placed on education and the languages of indigenous peoples.<\/p>\n
