La pasi\u00f3n que tiene sobre el patrimonio sonoro lo condujo al programa de Conservaci\u00f3n de Colecciones de Sonido (SOIMA) del ICCROM. En un primer momento, Samuel se involucr\u00f3 en la preparaci\u00f3n de riesgos para el patrimonio cultural y m\u00e1s tarde, fue instructor del curso SOIMA, adem\u00e1s de responsable senior del programa insignia del ICCROM Primeros Auxilios y Resiliencia para el Patrimonio Cultural en Tiempos de Crisis (FAR).<\/p>\n<p>Samuel, originario de Guatemala, ten\u00eda el sue\u00f1o de captar y preservar la m\u00fasica tradicional de su pa\u00eds natal y lleg\u00f3 a fundar Casa K\u2019ojom -Casa de la M\u00fasica- hace 35 a\u00f1os, convirti\u00e9ndose en un museo del paisaje ac\u00fastico de su pa\u00eds. Esta organizaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucro presenta objetivos educativos, investigadores, conservadores y de difusi\u00f3n de la m\u00fasica tradicional de los pueblos mayas del pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Franco, como socorrista cultural ha realizado la traducci\u00f3n al espa\u00f1ol de manera voluntaria del <strong>Manual y Caja de Herramientas de Primeros Auxilios y Resiliencia para el Patrimonio Cultural en Tiempos de Crisis del ICCROM<\/strong>. Este documento ofrece una metodolog\u00eda pr\u00e1ctica y probada sobre el terreno, as\u00ed como una serie de herramientas preparadas para su uso con la finalidad de garantizar la protecci\u00f3n del patrimonio cultural que se encuentra en peligro, tanto material como inmaterial. Samuel was initially involved in risk preparedness for cultural heritage and later became an instructor for the SOIMA course, as well as senior manager of ICCROM&#8217;s flagship program First Aid and Resilience for Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis (FAR).<\/p>\n<p>Samuel, originally from Guatemala, had a dream of capturing and preserving the traditional music of his native country and went on to found Casa K&#8217;ojom &#8211; House of Music &#8211; 35 years ago, becoming a museum of his country&#8217;s acoustic landscape. This non-profit organization has educational, research, conservation and dissemination objectives for the traditional music of the country&#8217;s Mayan peoples.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Franco, as a cultural rescuer, has voluntarily translated into Spanish the ICCROM&#8217;s <strong>Manual and Toolkit on First Aid and Resilience for Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisi<\/strong>s. This document offers a practical, field-tested methodology and a set of tools ready for use to ensure the protection of cultural heritage in danger, both tangible and intangible.
