CULTURA DE PAZ<\/h3>\t\t\t

\u201cLa paz es esencialmente el respeto de la vida. La paz es el bien m\u00e1s preciado de la humanidad. La paz no es s\u00f3lo el t\u00e9rmino de los conflictos armados. La paz es un comportamiento (\u2026)\u201d. As\u00ed se describi\u00f3 la llamada cultura de paz<\/strong> en la Declaraci\u00f3n de Yamusukro (Costa de Marfil) en julio de 1989 en el marco del Congreso Internacional sobre la paz en la mente de los hombres, celebrado por la UNESCO.<\/p>\n

Desde ese momento, numerosos organismos internacionales, entre ellos la UNESCO, han luchado por establecer y adoptar medidas espec\u00edficas para la construcci\u00f3n de la paz. En 1994, por ejemplo, la UNESCO cre\u00f3 la Unidad del Programa Cultura de Paz; y en 1995, en la Declaraci\u00f3n de Hanoi (Vietnam) de 1999, se hace especial hincapi\u00e9 en la importancia de la educaci\u00f3n en la formaci\u00f3n de la cultura de paz: \u201crecomendamos que en todas las etapas y niveles del proceso educativo (\u2026) se adapten los m\u00e9todos pedag\u00f3gicos y los contenidos de los programas para hacer de la cultura de paz un componente integral de educaci\u00f3n (\u2026)\u201d.<\/p>\n

Otro de los esfuerzos por promover la cultura de paz consisti\u00f3 en la declaraci\u00f3n del a\u00f1o 2000 como el A\u00f1o Internacional de la Cultura de paz y, el per\u00edodo de 2001 a 2010 como el Decenio Internacional de una cultura de paz y no violencia para los ni\u00f1os del mundo.<\/p>\n

Incluir programas espec\u00edficos sobre la cultura de paz en el temario acad\u00e9micos de los futuros docentes, as\u00ed como garantizar que esos estudiantes sean manejar metodolog\u00edas de resoluci\u00f3n de conflictos es importante para que \u201caprendan de manera m\u00e1s efectiva\u201d y sepan aplicar esos aprendizajes en favor de la convivencia\u201d, se\u00f1alan algunos investigadores de la Universidad Cuban de Cienfuegos.<\/p>\n

Por otro lado, un estudio de la UNESCO, elaborado por la University of Ulster, tambi\u00e9n apunta que la educaci\u00f3n para la paz se debe integrar en los curr\u00edculums escolares como un recurso que permita promover el pensamiento cr\u00edtico, la educaci\u00f3n para la ciudadan\u00eda, la mediaci\u00f3n y la \u201csensibilidad al conflicto\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hace s\u00f3lo seis a\u00f1os que la paz se reconoce como un derecho para toda la humanidad. Fue en la Declaraci\u00f3n sobre el Derecho a la Paz, aprobada en 2016 por la Asamblea General de la ONU. En esta declaraci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n se hace referencia a la importancia de las instituciones en promover la educaci\u00f3n de paz con el \u201cobjeto de fortalecer el esp\u00edritu de tolerancia, di\u00e1logo, cooperaci\u00f3n y solidaridad entre todos los seres humanos (art.4)\u201d. Tambi\u00e9n se desarrolla la tarea universal de la Universidad para la Paz, instituci\u00f3n acad\u00e9mica creada en 1980, dependiente de la ONU, cuyo objetivo es educar para la paz a trav\u00e9s de la ense\u00f1anza, la investigaci\u00f3n, la formaci\u00f3n de posgrado y la difusi\u00f3n de conocimientos.<\/p>\n

CULTURE OF PEACE<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Peace is essentially respect for life. Peace is humanity’s most precious good. Peace is not only the end of armed conflicts. Peace is a behavior (…)”. This is how the so-called culture of peace<\/strong> was described in the Yamoussoukro Declaration (Ivory Coast) in July 1989 at the International Congress on Peace in the Minds of Men, held by UNESCO.<\/p>\n

Since that time, numerous international organizations, including UNESCO, have striven to establish and adopt specific measures for peace building. In 1994, for example, UNESCO created the Culture of Peace Program Unit; and in 1995, in the 1999 Hanoi Declaration (Vietnam), special emphasis is placed on the importance of education in the formation of the culture of peace: “we recommend that at all stages and levels of the educational process (…) pedagogical methods and program contents be adapted to make the culture of peace an integral component of education (…)”.<\/p>\n

Another effort to promote the culture of peace was the declaration of the year 2000 as the International Year for the Culture of Peace and the period from 2001 to 2010 as the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World.<\/p>\n

Including specific programs on the culture of peace in the academic curriculum of future teachers, as well as ensuring that these students are able to handle conflict resolution methodologies is important for them to “learn more effectively” and know how to apply these lessons in favor of coexistence”, according to researchers at the Cuban University of Cienfuegos.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, a UNESCO study, prepared by the University of Ulster, also points out that peace education should be integrated into school curricula as a resource to promote critical thinking, education for citizenship, mediation and “conflict sensitivity”.<\/p>\n

It was only six years ago that peace was recognized as a right for all humanity. It was in the Declaration on the Right to Peace, adopted in 2016 by the UN General Assembly. This declaration also refers to the importance of institutions in promoting peace education with the “aim of strengthening the spirit of tolerance, dialogue, cooperation and solidarity among all human beings (art.4)”. It also develops the universal task of the University for Peace, an academic institution created in 1980, under the UN, which aims to educate for peace through teaching, research, postgraduate training and dissemination of knowledge.<\/p>\n
