EURO HOJA<\/h3>\t\t\t

Cualquier persona que haya visitado un comercio, se habr\u00e1 topado, en numerosas ocasiones, con productos con este peculiar icono. M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de lo que el propio s\u00edmbolo puede hacernos pensar que se trata de un producto ecol\u00f3gico reconocido por la Uni\u00f3n Europea, \u00bfqu\u00e9 implica la Euro Hoja?<\/p>\n

En primer lugar, es importante saber que la Euro Hoja<\/strong> nace como sello de identificaci\u00f3n de pr\u00e1cticas de agricultura sostenible en la Uni\u00f3n Europea, a ra\u00edz de la Pol\u00edtica Agr\u00edcola Com\u00fan (PAC) en la que gobiernos de diferentes pa\u00edses se comprometen a cumplir con una serie de objetivos. Entre ellos, la inclusi\u00f3n de comunidades rurales en la sociedad para el desempe\u00f1o de actividades econ\u00f3micas, la protecci\u00f3n de recursos naturales y mejora de la biodiversidad en el territorio europeo, as\u00ed como ayudar en la innovaci\u00f3n de la agricultura y de las zonas rurales.<\/p>\n

Entonces, \u00bfqu\u00e9 caracter\u00edsticas cumple un producto con el s\u00edmbolo de la Euro Hoja? Un producto ecol\u00f3gico con dicha certificaci\u00f3n es garant\u00eda de un alimento elaborado sin productos qu\u00edmicos (plaguicidas, antibi\u00f3ticos, fertilizantes, edulcorantes, conservantes, etc.) y sin organismos modificados gen\u00e9ticamente.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n se trata de un producto que cumple con el plan de inspecci\u00f3n oficial anual, en el que distintas muestras (de tierra, materias primas y productos finales) son tomadas y analizadas. Otro rasgo del que se encarga esta inspecci\u00f3n es el de recopilar toda la documentaci\u00f3n referida a las entradas y salidas de productos, as\u00ed como informaci\u00f3n acerca de productores y vendedores.<\/p>\n

Los controles de calidad son muy exhaustivos. Por ello, la Euro Hoja indica que el producto que se va a adquirir procede, directamente, del productor al vendedor, en recipientes herm\u00e9ticos, sin riesgo de contaminaciones cruzadas.<\/p>\n

Por \u00faltimo, la agricultura sostenible tambi\u00e9n exige de buenas pr\u00e1cticas en el \u00e1mbito ganadero: pr\u00e1cticas de cr\u00eda adecuadas, fomento de las defensas inmunol\u00f3gicas naturales de los animales, que los animales pasen una serie de horas al d\u00eda en el exterior y que su alimentaci\u00f3n sea mediante piensos ecol\u00f3gicos.<\/p>\n

La naturaleza se interrelaciona de formas que a veces somos incapaces de percibir a simple vista, puesto que no se trata de un sistema lineal ni f\u00e1cilmente predecible. Cuesta creer que \u201cel aleteo de una mariposa en Brasil hace aparecer un tornado en Texas\u201d; sin embargo, es as\u00ed. La agricultura sostenible trata de utilizar la cantidad m\u00ednima y necesaria de agua, fertilizantes y pesticidas, as\u00ed como exprimir energ\u00edas limpias y renovables (como la solar o la hidr\u00e1ulica) de forma que no se generen residuos contaminantes, sino que la naturaleza del propio residuo sea af\u00edn al entorno en el que se suele verter, es decir, el agua de r\u00edos, mares y oc\u00e9anos.<\/p>\n

EURO LEAF<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anyone who has visited a store will have come across, on numerous occasions, products with this peculiar icon. Beyond what the symbol itself can make us think that it is an organic product recognized by the European Union, what does the Euro Leaf imply?<\/p>\n

First of all, it is important to know that the Euro Leaf<\/strong> was born as a seal of identification of sustainable agricultural practices in the European Union, as a result of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in which governments of different countries are committed to meet a number of objectives. Among them, the inclusion of rural communities in society for the performance of economic activities, the protection of natural resources and improvement of biodiversity in the European territory, as well as helping in the innovation of agriculture and rural areas.<\/p>\n

So, what are the characteristics of a product with the Euro Leaf symbol? An organic product with this certification is a guarantee of a food produced without chemical products (pesticides, antibiotics, fertilizers, sweeteners, preservatives, etc.) and without genetically modified organisms.<\/p>\n

It is also a product that complies with the annual official inspection plan, in which different samples (soil, raw materials and final products) are taken and analyzed. Another feature of this inspection is to compile all documentation concerning incoming and outgoing products, as well as information about producers and sellers.<\/p>\n

The quality controls are very thorough. Therefore, the Euro Sheet indicates that the product to be purchased comes directly from the producer to the seller, in airtight containers, with no risk of cross-contamination.<\/p>\n

Finally, sustainable agriculture also requires good practices in the livestock sector: appropriate breeding practices, promotion of the animals’ natural immunological defenses, that the animals spend a number of hours a day outdoors and that they are fed with organic feed.<\/p>\n

Nature interrelates in ways that we are sometimes unable to perceive with the naked eye, since it is not a linear or easily predictable system. It is hard to believe that “the flapping of a butterfly in Brazil causes a tornado to appear in Texas”; however, this is the case. Sustainable agriculture seeks to use the minimum and necessary amount of water, fertilizers and pesticides, as well as clean and renewable energies (such as solar or hydraulic) in such a way that no polluting waste is generated, but rather that the nature of the waste itself is in harmony with the environment in which it is usually dumped, i.e., the water of rivers, seas and oceans.<\/p>\n
