ZARZUELA, MANIFESTACI\u00d3N REPRESENTATIVA DEL PATRIMONIO CULTURAL INMATERIAL<\/h3>\t\t\t

El Gobierno de Espa\u00f1a declar\u00f3 la zarzuela como Manifestaci\u00f3n Representativa del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial<\/strong>, el pasado 30 de enero de 2024. El Ministerio de Cultura ha informado que se trata del \u201cpaso definitivo de protecci\u00f3n\u201d de este g\u00e9nero, despu\u00e9s de que la Direcci\u00f3n General de Patrimonio Cultural y Bella Artes iniciara el procedimiento el 24 de julio de2023.<\/p>\n

En la disposici\u00f3n publicada en el Bolet\u00edn Oficial del Estado, se justifica el inter\u00e9s de esta declaraci\u00f3n \u201cpor su valor musical intr\u00ednseco que la ha convertido en un elemento identitario del imaginario sonoro de ciertos territorios. Adem\u00e1s de este valor musical, ha pasado a formar parte del imaginario colectivo nacional a trav\u00e9s de personajes, melod\u00edas y textos, muchos de los cuales se han acabado convirtiendo en expresiones, dichos, refranes populares, etc.<\/p>\n

Con esta declaraci\u00f3n se pretende, tal y como se indica en la disposici\u00f3n, \u201ccontribuir a su consideraci\u00f3n social y el inter\u00e9s p\u00fablico general y a su salvaguarda frente a los riesgos a los que continuamente se enfrenta\u201d. Respecto a estos riesgos, el texto menciona \u201cla escasez de obras contempor\u00e1neas, las barreras y estigmas que existen sobre el g\u00e9nero, estableciendo asociaciones err\u00f3neas y reduccionistas y dejando de lado otras regiones donde la Zarzuela tiene una gran tradici\u00f3n; el envejecimiento de la edad media del p\u00fablico, no consiguiendo a traer a las nuevas generaciones, por lo que es necesario aumentar los programas o iniciativas espec\u00edficos para su fomento; problemas con el relevo de int\u00e9rpretes del g\u00e9nero y escasa representaci\u00f3n de zarzuelas dentro de los ciclos musicales por falta de apoyo popular\u201d.<\/p>\n

El fin \u00faltimo de esta declaraci\u00f3n por parte del Gobierno es, a su vez, lograr el reconocimiento por parte de la UNESCO de la zarzuela como patrimonio inmaterial de la humanidad.<\/p>\n

Este es uno de los muchos ejemplos que ponen de manifiesto la necesidad de los reconocimientos leg\u00edtimos por parte de autoridades y dirigentes de estados para mantener un patrimonio que, en numerosas ocasiones, se encuentra en peligro por riesgos como el relevo generacional o la falta de proyecci\u00f3n en una sociedad cambiante que evoluciona r\u00e1pidamente.<\/p>\n

The Spanish Government declared zarzuela as a Representative Manifestation of Intangible Cultural<\/strong> Heritage on 30 January 2024. The Ministry of Culture has informed that this is the “definitive step of protection” of this genre, after the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Fine Arts initiated the procedure on 24 July 2023.<\/p>\n

In the provision published in the Official State Gazette, the interest of this declaration is justified “by its intrinsic musical value, which has made it an identifying element of the sound imaginary of certain territories. In addition to this musical value, it has become part of the national collective imagination through characters, melodies and texts, many of which have ended up becoming expressions, sayings, popular proverbs, etc.<\/p>\n

This declaration is intended, as the provision states, “to contribute to its social consideration and general public interest, and to safeguard it against the risks it continually faces”. Regarding these risks, the text mentions “the scarcity of contemporary works, the barriers and stigmas that exist about the genre, establishing erroneous and reductionist associations and leaving aside other regions where Zarzuela has a great tradition; the ageing of the average age of the public, failing to bring in new generations, making it necessary to increase specific programmes or initiatives for its promotion; problems with the replacement of performers of the genre and scarce representation of zarzuelas within musical cycles due to lack of popular support”.<\/p>\n

The ultimate aim of this declaration by the Government is, in turn, to achieve UNESCO recognition of zarzuela as intangible heritage of humanity.<\/p>\n

This is one of many examples that demonstrate the need for legitimate recognition by authorities and state leaders to maintain a heritage that, on many occasions, is endangered by risks such as generational replacement or lack of projection in a rapidly changing society.<\/p>\n
