D\u00cdA INTERNACIONAL DE LA MUJER Y LA NI\u00d1A EN LA CIENCIA<\/h3>\t\t\t

Este domingo, 11 de febrero, se celebra el\u00a0D\u00eda Internacional de la Mujer y la Ni\u00f1a en la Ciencia<\/strong>. El 22 de diciembre de 2025, la Asamblea General estableci\u00f3 esta efem\u00e9ride anual con el objetivo de reconocer el papel fundamental de las mujeres y las ni\u00f1as en la ciencia y en la tecnolog\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Este D\u00eda Internacional es implementado por la UNESCO y ONU-Mujeres, en colaboraci\u00f3n con otras instituciones y socios de la sociedad civil que persiguen el mismo objetivo.<\/p>\n

Seg\u00fan algunos datos de la ONU, las mujeres suelen recibir becas de investigaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s modestas que el g\u00e9nero masculino. Adem\u00e1s, representan el 33.3% de los investigadores y s\u00f3lo el 12% de los miembros de las academias cient\u00edficas nacionales son mujeres. Las investigadoras tienen, de normal, carreras m\u00e1s cortas y peor remuneradas a nivel econ\u00f3mico y su trabajo est\u00e1 poco representado en las revistas de alto nivel.<\/p>\n

La igualdad de g\u00e9nero ha sido siempre un objetivo a conseguir por parte de las Naciones Unidas. La igualdad de g\u00e9neros y el empoderamiento de mujeres y ni\u00f1as son dos factores que permitir\u00e1n garantizar el desarrollo econ\u00f3mico del mundo y alcanzar las metas de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible.<\/p>\n

Pese a que los \u00e1mbitos de ciencia, tecnolog\u00eda, ingenier\u00eda y matem\u00e1ticas (STEM) se consideran fundamentales para la econom\u00eda mundial, hasta ahora, la mayor\u00eda de los pa\u00edses, independientemente de su desarrollo, no han alcanzado la igualdad de g\u00e9nero en este sector.<\/p>\n

Para celebrar esta fecha, los d\u00edas 8 y 9 de febrero tiene lugar la 9\u00aa Asamblea del D\u00eda Internacional de la Mujer y la Ni\u00f1a en la Ciencia.<\/p>\n

El Objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible n\u00famero 5 es \u201cLograr la igualdad entre los g\u00e9neros y empoderar a todas las mujeres y las ni\u00f1as\u201d. Esta idea, recogida en la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible de la ONU, fija unas metas que persiguen poner fin a todas las formas de discriminaci\u00f3n contra las mujeres y las ni\u00f1as en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n

This Sunday, 11 February, marks the International\u00a0Day of Women and Girls in Science<\/strong>. On 22 December 2025, the General Assembly established this annual observance to recognize the critical role of women and girls in science and technology.<\/p>\n

This International Day is implemented by UNESCO and UN Women, in collaboration with other institutions and civil society partners pursuing the same goal.<\/p>\n

According to UN data, women tend to receive more modest research grants than men. In addition, they represent 33.3% of researchers and only 12% of the members of national scientific academies are women. Women researchers typically have shorter and less financially rewarding careers and their work is under-represented in top journals.<\/p>\n

Gender equality has always been a goal to be achieved by the United Nations. Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls are two factors that will ensure the world\u2019s economic development and achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n

Although the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are considered critical to the global economy, most countries, regardless of their development, have so far failed to achieve gender equality in this sector.<\/p>\n

To celebrate this date, the 9th Assembly of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is taking place on 8-9 February.<\/p>\n

Sustainable Development Goal 5 is to \u201cAchieve gender equality and empower all women and girls\u201d. This idea, which is part of the UN\u2019s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, sets targets that aim to end all forms of discrimination against women and girls worldwide.<\/p>\n
