NUEVO CASO DE EXPOLIO DE PATRIMONIO CULTURAL<\/h3>\t\t\t

La Polic\u00eda Nacional de Espa\u00f1a ha detenido a cinco personas en Granada por formar parte de un grupo criminal dedicado al expolio de piezas arqueol\u00f3gicas. Los agentes han intervenido 71 piezas, la mayor\u00eda procedentes de una galer\u00eda de arqueolog\u00eda de Barcelona, que datan de \u00e9pocas visigoda, nazar\u00ed, califal y renacentista.<\/strong><\/p>\n

La investigaci\u00f3n, que cont\u00f3 con el apoyo del Ministerio de Cultura, comenz\u00f3 cuando agentes especializados de la Brigada de Patrimonio Hist\u00f3rico detectaron en un stand de la FERIARTE2021 un capitel de estilo califal que llam\u00f3 la atenci\u00f3n debido a que piezas similares de origen il\u00edcito hab\u00edan aparecido recientemente en el mercado de arte.<\/p>\n

Los documentos presentados por los acusados inclu\u00edan una factura de compra -con el IVA excluido- y tres actas notariales (una por cada capitel) levantadas a nombre de la misma persona. Estas actas afirmaban que los capiteles hab\u00edan sido heredados y estaban en posesi\u00f3n de la familia desde hace varias generaciones, argumentando que un antepasado hab\u00eda sido restaurador en La Alhambra de Granada en el siglo XIX. Sin embargo, ninguno de los documentos acreditaba el origen y la procedencia de los objetos.<\/p>\n

La investigaci\u00f3n permiti\u00f3 localizar otras piezas en situaciones similares en Valencia, Madrid, Granada y Barcelona, descubriendo que todas hab\u00edan sido suministradas por el mismo comercio de antig\u00fcedades.<\/p>\n

Por orden judicial, se intervinieron las piezas arqueol\u00f3gicas localizadas y se trasladaron al Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico de Granada, al Museo Arqueol\u00f3gico Nacional de Madrid y al Museo de Prehistoria de Valencia, por instrucciones del Ministerio de Cultura.<\/p>\n

Este tipo de situaciones pone de manifiesto la necesidad de promover una educaci\u00f3n cultural que fomente el respeto por los bienes culturales, reconociendo que las piezas mencionadas en esta noticia son parte de un patrimonio colectivo y no deben ser objeto de comercio il\u00edcito. El expolio es, desafortunadamente, uno de los riesgos m\u00e1s comunes que enfrenta la cultura.<\/strong><\/p>\n

NEW CASE OF CULTURAL HERITAGE LOOTING<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Spanish National Police has arrested five individuals in Granada for being part of a criminal group dedicated to the looting of archaeological pieces. The officers seized 71 pieces, most of which came from an archaeology gallery in Barcelona and date back to Visigothic, Nasrid, Caliphate, and Renaissance periods.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The investigation, supported by the Ministry of Culture, began when specialized agents from the Historical Heritage Brigade noticed a Caliphate-style capital at a stand during FERIARTE2021. This caught their attention because similar pieces of illicit origin had recently appeared in the art market.<\/p>\n

The documents provided by the accused included a purchase invoice – with VAT excluded – and three notarial deeds (one for each capital) made out in the same person’s name. These deeds claimed that the capitals had been inherited and had been in the family’s possession for several generations, stating that an ancestor had been a restorer at the Alhambra in Granada in the 19th century. However, none of the documents proved the origin and provenance of the objects.<\/p>\n

The investigation led to the discovery of other pieces in similar situations in Valencia, Madrid, Granada, and Barcelona, revealing that they had all been supplied by the same antique dealer.<\/p>\n

By judicial order, the located archaeological pieces were seized and transferred to the Archaeological Museum of Granada, the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid, and the Prehistory Museum of Valencia, as directed by the Ministry of Culture.<\/p>\n

These situations highlight the need to promote cultural education that fosters respect for cultural assets, recognizing that the pieces mentioned in this news article are part of collective heritage and should not be subject to illicit trade. Unfortunately, looting is one of the most common risks facing culture.<\/strong><\/p>\n
