CURSO “ARTESANÍA SOSTENIBLE: LA CULTURA DEL BARRO”

La Cátedra UNESCO Forum Universidad y Patrimonio Cultural de la UPV y el proyecto Ocean Art organizan el curso Artesanía Sostenible: la cultura del barro los días 26 y 27 de mayo de 2023.
Este curso se enmarca en los objetivos principales de Cátedra UNESCO Forum Universidad y Patrimonio Cultural de la UPV y por extensión, de Ocean Art Project, que son divulgar la cultura de los mares y océanos a la vez que concienciar a la sociedad sobre el necesario cuidado y aprecio hacia los mismos. Dentro de esta línea y, en consonancia con otros talleres impartidos con anterioridad, se ofrece un nuevo curso sobre la cultura del barro como un material sostenible y alternativo a los plásticos, los cuales suponen una fuente incesable de contaminación marina, haciendo especial hincapié en la Regla de las Tres Erres: Reducir, Reutilizar y Reciclar.
Este curso se impartirá a cargo de María Victoria Vivancos Ramón, catedrática de la Universitat Politècnica de València y Directora de la Cátedra UNESCO Forum Universidad y Patrimonio Cultural UPV; y Yolanda Ruiz, artesana, artista contemporánea y profesional del sector. Yolanda se formó en Manises, una de las cunas mundiales de la cerámica y Ciudad Creativa en Artesanía y Artes de la UNESCO y, de esta manera, nos plantea un taller responsable y creativo, inspirado en la naturaleza, en los conocimientos antiguos de los artesanos de la profesión y haciendo uso de un material durable y resistente al paso del tiempo. Nos enseñará a producir nuestros propios contenedores de cerámica doméstica reduciendo así el uso del plástico de botes, vasos y demás útiles.
El curso tendrá lugar de manera presencial en los talleres de la Cátedra UNESCO Forum Universidad y Patrimonio Cultural UPV (Edificio 8B, Acceso K, Planta 1, UPV- Ciudad Politécnica de la Innovación, Camino de vera s/n, Av. Tarongers, 46022, Valencia), entre los días 26 y 27 de mayo de 2023.

COURSE “SUSTAINABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP: THE CULTURE OF CLAY”

The UNESCO Chair Forum University and Cultural Heritage of the UPV and the Ocean Art Project organize the course Sustainable Crafts: the culture of clay on 26 and 27 May 2023.
This course is part of the main objectives of the UNESCO Chair Forum University and Cultural Heritage of the UPV and by extension, the Ocean Art Project, which are to disseminate the culture of the seas and oceans while raising awareness in society about the necessary care and appreciation for them. Within this line and, in line with other workshops given previously, a new course is offered on the culture of clay as a sustainable material and alternative to plastics, which are an incessant source of marine pollution, with special emphasis on the Three Rs Rule: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
This course will be given by María Victoria Vivancos Ramón, professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València and Director of the UNESCO Chair Forum University and Cultural Heritage UPV; and Yolanda Ruiz, craftswoman, contemporary artist and professional in the sector. Yolanda was trained in Manises, one of the world cradles of ceramics and UNESCO Creative City in Crafts and Arts and, in this way, she proposes a responsible and creative workshop, inspired by nature, in the ancient knowledge of the craftsmen of the profession and making use of a durable and resistant material to the passage of time. It will teach us how to produce our own domestic ceramic containers, thus reducing the use of plastic in jars, glasses and other utensils.
The course will take place in the workshops of the UNESCO Chair Forum University and Cultural Heritage UPV (Building 8B, Access K, Floor 1, UPV- Ciudad Politécnica de la Innovación, Camino de Vera s/n, Av. Tarongers, 46022, Valencia), between the 26th and 27th of May 2023.
