El 7 y 8 de septiembre, la localidad valenciana de Algemesí vivía sus fiestas en honor a la Mare de Déu de la Salut.
Esta fiesta de dos días de duración conforma la realización de tres grandes procesiones. Los actos llevados a cabo incluyen a los más pequeños, como la escenificación de los Misteris y Martiris, protagonizado por niños. Esta fiesta se encuentra acompañada también por la tradicional indumentaria valenciana, así como la música y bailes, símbolos del patrimonio inmaterial que reúne esta localidad de la Ribera Alta.
Esta festividad se remonta al siglo XIII y está dedicada a la Mare de Déu de la Salut, patrona de la localidad, la cual desfila en una de las procesiones acompañada de su escolta, guardia, clero, corporación municipal y la Sociedad Musical de Algemesí.
El elemento festivo más representativo es la llamada Muixeranga, que combina componentes acrobáticos, coreográficos, religiosos y burlescos. Los participantes portan la indumentaria tradicional de esta actividad y se acompaña de música popular característica de este patrimonio inmaterial.
La UNESCO incluyó esta festividad en la Lista Representativa del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad en 2011. De esta manera, se reconoce el esfuerzo de la localidad por transmitir un tipo de patrimonio protagonizado por la gente y que encierra numerosos tipos de patrimonio en su interior, como la música, la indumentaria e incluso, las expresiones. En definitiva: parte de la esencia de la localidad de Algemesí, conocida ahora, a nivel mundial.

MARE DE DÉU DE LA SALUT: INTANGIBLE HERITAGE OF HUMANITY
On September 7th and 8th, the Valencian town of Algemesí lived its festivities in honor of the Mare de Déu de la Salut.
This two-day festival consists of three large processions. The acts carried out include the smallest, as the staging of the Misteris and Martiris, starring children. This festival is also accompanied by the traditional Valencian costumes, as well as music and dances, symbols of the intangible heritage that brings together this town of Ribera Alta.
This festivity dates back to the 13th century and is dedicated to the Mare de Déu de la Salut, patron saint of the town, who parades in one of the processions accompanied by her guard, clergy, municipal corporation and the Algemesí Musical Society.
The most representative festive element is the so-called Muixeranga, which combines acrobatic, choreographic, religious and burlesque components. The participants wear the traditional costumes of this activity and it is accompanied by popular music characteristic of this intangible heritage.
UNESCO included this festivity in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2011. In this way, it recognizes the effort of the locality to transmit a type of heritage that is led by the people and that encloses numerous types of heritage within it, such as music, clothing and even, expressions. In short: part of the essence of the town of Algemesí, now worldwide known.
