Convocatoria del Premio UNESCO‑Hamdan para el Desarrollo Docente 2025-2026

La UNESCO y la Comisión Nacional Española de Cooperación con la UNESCO anuncian la convocatoria para la edición 2025-2026 del Premio UNESCO-Hamdan para el Desarrollo Docente, una distinción internacional que busca promover la mejora de los programas de formación y desarrollo profesional del profesorado.

El premio está dotado con un total de 300.000 dólares estadounidenses, que se repartirán entre tres candidaturas galardonadas. Podrán presentarse instituciones, organizaciones y centros de investigación o educativos que hayan demostrado “una realización destacada para mejorar las prácticas pedagógicas y la calidad de la enseñanza y el aprendizaje”.

El plazo internacional para presentar candidaturas ante la UNESCO vencerá el 31 de enero de 2026 (medianoche, GMT+2). A nivel nacional en España, las instituciones interesadas deberán remitir su candidatura mediante la plataforma correspondiente y, adicionalmente, informar a la Comisión Nacional antes del 15 de diciembre de 2025 las que pretendan optar a la pre-selección española.

El mecanismo nacional consiste en que los candidatos completen el formulario oficial (disponible en inglés o francés) y lo envíen a través de la plataforma de la UNESCO. Quienes deseen participar mediante esta Comisión deben además comunicarlo al correo hispaunesco@aecid.es, junto con un texto explicativo de máximo 350 palabras justificando por qué su proyecto merece el Premio.

Cada Estado Miembro puede presentar hasta un máximo de cinco candidaturas a través de su Comisión Nacional.

Call for entries for the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development 2025-2026

UNESCO and the Spanish National Commission for UNESCO announce the call for entries for the 2025-2026 edition of the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Teacher Development, an international award that seeks to promote the improvement of teacher training and professional development programmes.

The prize is worth a total of US$300,000, which will be shared among three winning candidates. Institutions, organisations and research or educational centres that have demonstrated ‘outstanding achievement in improving pedagogical practices and the quality of teaching and learning’ are eligible to apply.

The international deadline for submitting nominations to UNESCO is 31 January 2026 (midnight, GMT+2). At the national level in Spain, interested institutions must submit their nominations via the corresponding platform and, in addition, inform the National Commission before 15 December 2025 of those they wish to submit for the Spanish pre-selection.

The national mechanism consists of candidates completing the official form (available in English or French) and submitting it via the UNESCO platform. Those wishing to participate through this Commission must also notify hispaunesco@aecid.es, along with an explanatory text of no more than 350 words justifying why their project deserves the Award.

Each Member State may submit up to a maximum of five nominations through its National Commission.
