LA RIQUEZA DE LOS ABORÍGENES AUSTRALIANOS
Australia es un país que cuenta con 25 millones de habitantes repartidos en 7 millones de km2.
Previamente a la colonización europea en este territorio, los aborígenes australianos, junto con los isleños del Estrecho de Torres, fueron los primeros habitantes de Australia, extendiendo la cultura por todo el país, Tasmania y otras islas cercanas.
Los aborígenes habitaron el territorio más de 60.000 años hasta la llegada de los colonos, quienes no los consideraban como propiamente humanos. El número de habitantes de este territorio, se redujo así, tras la llegada de los británicos, de 900.000 habitantes a únicamente 30.000.
Junto a los aborígenes australianos, existe una extensa cultura propia.
- Antes de la colonización europea, se hablaban más de 250 lenguas aborígenes en Australia. Actualmente, en el siglo XXI, se han reducido a menos de 20, estando algunas en grave peligro de extinción.
- Su lugar sagrado es la formación rocosa llamad UIuru, que fue clasificada por la UNESCO como sitio natural Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 1989.
- La cultura aborigen goza de un estilo musical muy característico y propio debido al conocido instrumento “didgeridoo”.
- Otro rasgo importante de esta cultura es la presencia del bumerán, que es usado como arma.
- Además, el bumerán es la practica deportiva favorita de los aborígenes australianos, seguidas por el fútbol australiano, rugby y criquet.
- La cocina aborigen se resume en el concepto “Bush Tucker”, que hace referencia al conjunto de especies animales y vegetales australianas que permiten sobrevivir al hombre a partir de la naturaleza.
- Esta comunidad, tiene a su vez, una bandera propia que consta de dos franjas de color: negra, roja y acompañada de un círculo amarillo en el centro. El color rojo representa la tierra, el negro simboliza a los pueblos aborígenes y el círculo amarillo es el sol, como protector y generador de vida.
Con esta última reflexión sobre la importancia del significado y el valor de los aborígenes en Australia, cabe mencionar que el pasado mes de agosto se llevó a cabo una serie de conferencias (UMAC 2023) en las ciudades de Sydney y Canberra. En estos encuentros, se plantearon numerosas problemáticas sociales, económicas y culturales ligadas con la inclusión de la cultura aborigen al país de cercana descendencia británica.
En este discurso, se pudo llegar a la conclusión de la necesidad de elevar la cultura aborigen para devolverles la tierra y las costumbres que siempre les pertenecieron, entendiendo que los aborígenes australianos son una fuente de riqueza cultural VIVA y constituye un patrimonio material e inmaterial único en el mundo.

THE WEALTH OF AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL PEOPLE
Australia is a country with 25 million inhabitants spread over 7 million km2.
Prior to European colonization in this territory, the Australian Aborigines, along with the Torres Strait Islanders, were the first inhabitants of Australia, spreading their culture throughout the country, Tasmania and other nearby islands.
The Aborigines inhabited the territory for more than 60,000 years until the arrival of the settlers, who did not consider them to be properly human. The number of inhabitants of this territory was reduced from 900,000 to only 30,000 after the arrival of the British.
In addition to the Australian Aborigines, there is an extensive culture of their own.

– Their sacred place is the rock formation called Uluru, which was classified by UNESCO as a natural World Heritage Site in 1989.
– The aboriginal culture enjoys a very characteristic and unique musical style due to the well-known “didgeridoo” instrument.
– Another important feature of this culture is the presence of the boomerang, which is used as a weapon.
– In addition, the boomerang is the favorite sport of the Australian Aborigines, followed by Australian soccer, rugby and cricket.
– Aboriginal cuisine is summarized in the “Bush Tucker” concept, which refers to the set of Australian animal and vegetable species that allow man to survive from nature.
– This community, in turn, has its own flag consisting of two colored stripes: black, red and accompanied by a yellow circle in the center. The red color represents the earth, the black symbolizes the aboriginal people and the yellow circle is the sun, as protector and generator of life.
With this last reflection on the importance of the significance and value of Aboriginal people in Australia, it is worth mentioning that last August a series of conferences (UMAC 2023) were held in the cities of Sydney and Canberra. In these meetings, numerous social, economic and cultural issues related to the inclusion of Aboriginal culture in the country of close British descent were raised.
In this discourse, it was possible to reach the conclusion of the need to elevate the Aboriginal culture to give them back the land and customs that always belonged to them, understanding that the Australian Aborigines are a source of LIVING cultural wealth and constitute a unique material and immaterial heritage in the world.
