POSIBLE REAPERTURA DE NOTRE DAME EN 2024

La Catedral de Notre Dame de París sufrió un incendio el 15 de abril de 2019 en el tejado del edificio, ocasionando graves daños. La aguja de la catedral, característica de Viollet Le Duc, y el tejado, se derrumbaron. Muchos bienes muebles del interior del espacio también sufrieron daños. En 24 horas, se recaudaron más de 800 millones de euros para la reconstrucción de uno de los símbolos parisinos más importantes de la ciudad.

La Catedral data del siglo XII y sus principales materiales son los sillares de piedra y la madera.

Los bomberos comunicaron a los medios franceses que el incendio podría estar relacionado con las obras de renovación que se estaban realizando en ese momento en el edificio, tras una apelación de emergencia del año 2018 cuando se consideró que este monumento necesitaba un proceso de mantenimiento y restauración.

Recordando el triste acontecimiento de 2019, alrededor de las 18:20 sonó la alarma de incendio y los guardias comenzaron a evacuar la catedral en plena misa. No se pudo observar el incendio hasta las 18:43, cuando sonó nuevamente la alarma.

En la madrugada del 16 de abril, tras nueve horas de lucha contra el fuego, los bomberos dieron por extinguido el incendio, pese a que existían focos menores, en los que siguieron trabajando durante todo el día. El balance final del procedimiento seguido por los cuerpos de seguridad pertinentes indicó que tanto la estructura, como la fachada y las torres pudieron ser salvadas gracias a las labores de extinción del incendio.

En una declaración reciente de las autoridades francesas, se ha conocido que la reapertura del edificio al público está prevista para diciembre de 2024, aunque finiquitarían las últimas obras durante 2025, casi 6 años después de la catástrofe.

POSSIBLE REOPENING OF NOTRE DAME IN 2024

The Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris suffered a fire on April 15, 2019 on the roof of the building, causing severe damage. The cathedral’s spire, characteristic of Viollet Le Duc, and the roof, collapsed. Many movable goods inside the space were also damaged. In 24 hours, more than 800 million euros were raised for the reconstruction of one of the most important Parisian symbols of the city.

The Cathedral dates back to the 12th century and its main materials are stone ashlars and wood.

Firefighters told the French media that the fire could be related to the renovation works that were being carried out at the time in the building, following an emergency appeal in 2018 when it was considered that this monument was in need of a maintenance and restoration process.

Recalling the sad event of 2019, at around 18:20 the fire alarm sounded and the guards began to evacuate the cathedral in the middle of Mass. The fire could not be observed until 18:43, when the alarm sounded again.

In the early morning of April 16, after nine hours of fighting the fire, the firefighters considered the fire to be extinguished, although there were minor outbreaks, on which they continued to work throughout the day. The final assessment of the procedure followed by the relevant security forces indicated that the structure, the façade and the towers could be saved thanks to the firefighting efforts.

In a recent statement by the French authorities, it was announced that the reopening of the building to the public is scheduled for December 2024, although the last works will be completed in 2025, almost 6 years after the catastrophe.
