Después de dos años por fin ha vuelto a ver la luz una de las más bellas representaciones del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la UNESCO, El Misteri d'Elx. El Misteri es un tesoro cultural del pueblo de Elche y una de las joyas más preciadas del patrimonio valenciano, como prueban su declaración como Monumento Nacional el año 1931, y su inclusión, en el año 2001, en la primera Proclamación de las Obras Maestras del Patrimonio Oral e Inmaterial de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.
La Festa, como también se conoce esta obra de origen medieval, se representa todos los años en la Basílica de Santa María de Elche en el mes de agosto, para celebrar la festividad de la Virgen de la Asunción. El día 14 se pone en escena la primera parte, denominada la Vespra y la segunda parte, la Festa, el día 15. Además, los días 11,12 y 13 de agosto se realizan los ensayos generales, en los que se escenifican ambos actos seguidos.
