MONDIACULT BARCELONA 2025
El pasado mes de febrero, Audrey Azoulay, directora general de la UNESCO comunicó al Gobierno de España, que España será la encargada de organizar la próxima edición de MONDIACULT, el foro internacional de ministros de cultura. Este evento tendrá lugar en Barcelona en el segundo semestre de 2025.
En palabras de Audrey Azoulay “MONDIACULT es un gran evento en el que los 194 Estados Miembros de la UNESCO definen juntos la agenda mundial para la cultura. Tras el éxito de la edición de 2022 en México, me complace anunciar que la edición 2025 se celebrará en Barcelona. En este foro de ministros, la UNESCO presentará el primer informe mundial sobre el estado de la cultura, fruto de tres años de trabajo”.
Además, la directora general de la UNESCO, ha acordado, con el presidente del Gobierno de España, abordar especialmente, el tema de la inteligencia artificial, una tecnología que ofrece muchas oportunidades, pero también genera preocupaciones a los artistas. De esta manera, a principios del año 2025, la UNESCO lanzará una convocatoria de proyectos dedicada al impacto de la inteligencia artificial en la cultura.
España se ha mostrad siempre muy comprometida con todos los programas de la UNESCO, sien do el país del mundo con mayor número de reservas de biosfera y de Cátedras UNESCO y el tercero por número de sitios inscritos en la Lista de Patrimonio Mundial. Además, también es el quinto mayor contribuyente europeo al presupuesto regulador de la Organización.
Por otro lado, la candidatura de Barcelona fue propuesta por el Gobierno de España en el mes de octubre de 2023, siendo una ciudad con mucha experiencia en la organización de eventos internacionales de la UNESCO: en 2022, acogió la Conferencia Mundial de la UNESCO sobre enseñanza superior y en abril de 2024 acogerá la Conferencia del Decenio de las Ciencias Oceánicas para el Desarrollo Sostenible.

Last February, Audrey Azoulay, Director General of UNESCO, informed the Government of Spain that Spain will be in charge of organizing the next edition of MONDIACULT, the international forum of ministers of culture. This event will take place in Barcelona in the second half of 2025.
In the words of Audrey Azoulay, “MONDIACULT is a major event where UNESCO’s 194 Member States define together the global agenda for culture. Following the success of the 2022 edition in Mexico, I am pleased to announce that the 2025 edition will be held in Barcelona. At this forum of ministers, UNESCO will present the first global report on the state of culture, the fruit of three years of work.”
In addition, the Director-General of UNESCO has agreed with the President of the Government of Spain to address, in particular, the issue of artificial intelligence, a technology that offers many opportunities, but also raises concerns for artists. Thus, in early 2025, UNESCO will launch a call for projects dedicated to the impact of artificial intelligence on culture.
Spain has always been very committed to all of UNESCO’s programs, being the country with the largest number of biosphere reserves and UNESCO Chairs in the world and the third largest number of sites inscribed on the World Heritage List. It is also the fifth largest European contributor to the Organization’s regulatory budget.
On the other hand, Barcelona’s candidacy was proposed by the Government of Spain in October 2023, being a city with a lot of experience in organizing international UNESCO events: in 2022, it hosted the UNESCO World Conference on Higher Education and in April 2024 it will host the Decade of Ocean Sciences Conference for Sustainable Development.
