STREET ART CITIES

Street Art Cities es una aplicación que selecciona y muestra, a través de un mapeo, una clasificación del mejor arte urbano a nivel mundial. Esta aplicación nació en 2016 con la finalidad de facilitar, a todos los interesados, la búsqueda del arte urbano de las ciudades a nivel mundial.

Además, cada año, la plataforma busca el mejor mural del año, recopilando los más valorados por la población durante el año en cuestión. El pasado 2023, los artistas españoles incrementaron su participación en esta plataforma y lo hicieron el año en que se abrieron dos categorías nuevas: Premio Impacto y Premio Innovación.

Entre las obras nominadas que se pueden ver en España, hay desde grafitis en ciudades y en barrios pequeños; murales que innovan con el juego de luz y otros, que buscan plasmar el recuerdo de un lugar y entre todos ellos, suman 26 nominados.

La pintura mural cuenta ya, con muchos siglos de historia. Sin embargo, la forma de arte urbano que vemos, hoy en día, en las paredes de muchas ciudades y pueblos, arrancó en México en el siglo XX.

Este arte urbano, considerado como patrimonio, no sólo tiene una función estética, sino que, a menudo, los artistas plasman mensajes que hablan de una sociedad o representan a una comunidad.

Street Art Cities is an application that selects and shows, through a mapping, a classification of the best urban art worldwide. This application was born in 2016 with the aim of facilitating, for all those interested, the search for urban art in cities around the world.

In addition, each year, the platform searches for the best mural of the year, compiling the most valued by the population during the year in question. Last 2023, Spanish artists increased their participation in this platform and did so in the year in which two new categories were opened: Impact Award and Innovation Award.

Among the nominated works that can be seen in Spain, there is graffiti in cities and small neighbourhoods; murals that innovate with the play of light and others that seek to capture the memory of a place and between them, there are 26 nominees.

Mural painting has many centuries of history. However, the form of urban art that we see today on the walls of many cities and towns began in Mexico in the 20th century.

This urban art, considered as heritage, not only has an aesthetic function, but the artists often depict messages that speak of a society or represent a community.
