El Dr. José Miguel Martín Martínez es Catedrático de Química Inorgánica en la Universidad de Alicante, donde se incorporó en 1981 y fundó el Laboratorio de Adhesión y Adhesivos en 1990, siendo pionero en implantar la ciencia de la Adhesión en España, logrando ser referencia internacional en su campo.
A lo largo de más de cuatro décadas, ha desarrollado una destacada trayectoria académica y científica, liderando investigaciones pioneras en adhesión y adhesivos, tratamientos superficiales, adhesivos para caucho y poliuretano, nanocomposites, materiales híbridos inorgánico-orgánicos, bioadhesivos y adhesivos ecosostenibles. Sus trabajos han tenido aplicaciones en sectores como la industria del calzado, la construcción, la medicina y la conservación del patrimonio.
Su producción científica incluye más de 275 artículos indexados, 56 libros y capítulos, 34 patentes y cientos de contribuciones en congresos internacionales. Ha dirigido más de 45 tesis doctorales y asesorado numerosos proyectos de investigación y transferencia.
Entre los reconocimientos más relevantes de su carrera destaca el Premio Robert L. Patrick Fellowship, otorgado por la American Adhesion Society en 2013, siendo el primer investigador español en recibir esta distinción. Además, ha ocupado cargos de liderazgo en sociedades científicas internacionales, como la presidencia de la Sociedad Española de Adhesión y la participación en el comité directivo de EURADH. Es editor-in-Chief de la revista Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology.
Todo ello, sumado a su compromiso con la innovación y la formación de investigadores lo sitúa como una figura clave en el avance del conocimiento sobre adhesión y materiales funcionales, con impacto tanto académico como industrial.

Dr. José Miguel Martín Martínez is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Alicante, where he joined in 1981 and founded the Adhesion and Adhesives Laboratory in 1990. He was a pioneer in implementing the science of adhesion in Spain, becoming an international reference in his field.
Over more than four decades, he has developed an outstanding academic and scientific career, leading pioneering research in adhesion and adhesives, surface treatments, adhesives for rubber and polyurethane, nanocomposites, inorganic-organic hybrid materials, bioadhesives and eco-sustainable adhesives. His work has had applications in sectors such as the footwear industry, construction, medicine and heritage conservation.
His scientific output includes more than 275 indexed articles, 56 books and chapters, 34 patents and hundreds of contributions to international conferences. He has supervised more than 45 doctoral theses and advised on numerous research and transfer projects.
Among the most significant recognitions of his career is the Robert L. Patrick Fellowship Award, granted by the American Adhesion Society in 2013, making him the first Spanish researcher to receive this distinction. He has also held leadership positions in international scientific societies, such as the presidency of the Spanish Adhesion Society and membership of the EURADH steering committee. He is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology.
All this, combined with his commitment to innovation and the training of researchers, makes him a key figure in the advancement of knowledge about adhesion and functional materials, with both academic and industrial impact.
